Achievement Completion
An achievement is completed when all of its required conditions have been satisfied.
For a counter-based achievement, this may mean reaching the final required number.
For a discovery achievement, it may mean finding the last required location.
For a progression achievement, it may mean reaching a particular skill milestone.
For a special feat, it may happen in a single extraordinary moment.
When the requirement is finally met, the achievement moves from progress in motion to a completed accomplishment.
Once an achievement has been earned, it becomes part of the character's recorded history and contributes its Achievement Points to the character's total.
|
Qualifying actions move the achievement toward its required goal.
|
The final required counter, milestone, discovery, or special condition is satisfied.
|
The achievement is completed, permanently recorded, and added to the character's accomplishment history.
|
Consider the achievement:
Dragonbane
Slay 50 formidable Dragons.
A character may spend a long time building progress:
12 / 50
31 / 50
49 / 50
At this point, the achievement is still incomplete.
The character is close, but the requirement has not yet been met.
When the next qualifying dragon is defeated:
50 / 50
The achievement completes.
49 out of 50 is progress. 50 out of 50 is accomplishment.
Progression Achievements can complete when a supported skill reaches 100.0 base skill.
For example:
99.7 Magery
The achievement is not yet complete.
99.9 Magery
Still not complete.
100.0 Magery
The Grandmaster milestone has been reached and the corresponding achievement can be completed.
The Achievement System recognizes the moment when development becomes mastery.
Dungeon and exploration achievements can require the discovery of distinct locations.
A character pursuing a large exploration achievement might have:
84 of 85 known locations discovered
The character has explored nearly everything required, but one location remains.
Upon entering the final undiscovered qualifying place:
85 of 85
The achievement completes.
The accomplishment is not simply that the character traveled often.
It is that the character completed the required record of discovery.
A Special Feat may complete the moment its exact condition occurs.
For example:
Heavy Hitter
Deal 100 or more damage in a single melee hit.
The character does not necessarily build:
27 / 100
58 / 100
93 / 100
Instead, the achievement waits for the required event.
When the character finally lands a qualifying strike of 100 or more damage, the achievement can complete immediately.
The same principle can apply to:
• reaching a required amount of equipped Luck
• completing an unusual Pet Fusion
• triggering a special fusion condition
• recovering a rare maritime prize
• performing another unique feat recognized by the system
Once earned, the accomplishment is recorded with the character rather than returning to unfinished progress.
A completed achievement becomes part of the character's long-term record.
The character may later:
• pursue other achievements
• change classes
• explore different systems
• focus on crafting instead of combat
• leave the sea and return to the land
• begin an entirely different style of play
The achievement remains part of what that character has already accomplished.
|
The accomplishment is marked as completed and becomes part of the character's permanent achievement history.
|
The achievement contributes its assigned point value to the character's total Achievement Points.
|
When the achievement includes additional rewards, those rewards can be granted as part of completing the accomplishment.
|
Every achievement has an assigned Achievement Point value.
The points represent the value of the completed accomplishment within the Achievement System.
For example, a character may have several achievements in progress at the same time:
Dragonbane: 42 / 50
Dungeon Explorer: 8 / 10
Fusion Adept: 7 / 10
Those unfinished goals remain progress.
When one of them reaches its required condition and completes, its Achievement Points become part of the character's completed point total.
Depending upon the achievement, completion can also provide additional rewards.
These can vary according to the category and accomplishment.
Possible rewards may include:
• gold
• useful supplies
• crafting materials
• gathering tools or resources
• potions and consumables
• equipment
• Awakening resources
• Imbuing Runes
• Pet Fusion resources
• exploration or maritime supplies
• other achievement-specific rewards
Not every achievement must provide the same type of reward.
A crafting accomplishment can reward something different from a combat, exploration, or Pet Fusion achievement.
Once an achievement has been completed, that specific achievement becomes part of the character's completed record.
For example:
A character completes:
First Binding
by performing the first successful Pet Fusion.
The character may continue performing Pet Fusions afterward, but First Binding has already been earned.
Future fusions may instead contribute toward larger achievements such as:
Fusion Adept
and eventually:
Fusion Master
Completion closes one goal while often opening the road toward something greater.
|
First Milestone
Complete the first achievement and prove that the journey has begun.
|
Greater Milestone
Continue the same activity and work toward a more demanding accomplishment.
|
Mastery Milestone
Reach the largest achievement and prove exceptional dedication to the activity.
|
A character begins experimenting with Pet Fusion.
The first successful fusion completes:
First Binding
The character continues.
After enough successful fusions:
Fusion Adept
is completed.
The character continues still further.
Eventually:
Fusion Master
is completed.
Each achievement remains a separate accomplishment.
Completing the larger achievement does not erase the smaller ones.
Together, they form a progression history showing how far the character has developed within that system.
A character discovers ten different dungeons or hidden areas.
The first major exploration achievement completes.
The character continues traveling and eventually discovers fifty.
Another achievement completes.
Much later, the character reaches the largest exploration goal and discovers all eighty-five known qualifying locations.
Legendary Explorer is completed.
The character's achievement history now records every major stage of that exploration journey.
An achievement may complete while the player is pursuing another system.
Examples include:
• reaching Grandmaster skill while developing Skill Proficiency
• earning a Pet Fusion achievement while developing powerful companions
• completing a maritime achievement while advancing Sea Legs
• unlocking a combat achievement while completing quests or hunting resources
• completing a crafting achievement while producing equipment for other players
• earning an exploration achievement while searching for dungeons, quests, or rare encounters
The achievement does not replace those other forms of progression.
It records that the milestone happened along the way.

The Achievement Journal allows the character to review achievement categories, ongoing progress, completed accomplishments, and total Achievement Points.
Over time, the completed portion of the journal becomes a record of the life the character has lived.
A veteran warrior may have a long list of combat accomplishments.
An artisan may have filled entire crafting categories.
An explorer may have discovered nearly every dangerous place in the world.
A mariner may have built a history upon the water.
No two completed achievement records need to look the same.
